Work Shifts
What it does
Work Shifts is how staff clock in and out and how managers review the hours everyone worked. Employees start a shift when they arrive, log breaks, smoke, or other unpaid time during the day, and end the shift when they leave. Managers get a report of all staff shifts they can filter and export.
Getting started
- As an employee, open your Work Shift page (you're prompted to start a shift on your first login of the day).
- Tap Start when you arrive. During the day, log a Break, Smoke, or Unpaid period as needed — the time is subtracted from your paid hours.
- Tap End when you leave to close the shift.
- As a manager, open Staff → Reports and choose the Shifts tab to review everyone's hours for the period.
Key things to know
- Only managers can see and review all staff shifts; employees see only their own.
- A shift left open too long is closed automatically (there's a 24-hour cap for normal venues; venues open around the clock are handled differently). Auto-closed shifts are marked so you can tell them apart from ones the employee ended.
- In the manager report you can filter shifts by tapping the summary cards at the top:
- Open — shifts still running.
- Not Closed — shifts that had to be closed automatically rather than by the employee.
- Late In — the person started later than their planned shift.
- Early Out — the person finished earlier than planned.
- Not Full — the person worked fewer hours than planned.
- You can also filter the report to a single employee using the user picker, or leave it on All users.
- The report can be exported to PDF for the selected date.
- This is employee monitoring, and you are the one responsible for it. Working time, breaks, lateness and pay data belong to your business — POSolid only stores them for you. Under the Polish Labour Code (art. 22² – 22³) and equivalent rules elsewhere, monitoring of staff has to be set out in your work rules or an equivalent notice, and your team has to be informed before it starts. Tell people what is recorded, why, and who can see it; a short paragraph in your staff handbook is usually enough.
FAQ
Q: What's the difference between "Late In", "Early Out" and "Not Full"?
A: They compare a worked shift against what was planned for that person. Late In means they clocked in after the planned start; Early Out means they clocked out before the planned end; Not Full means the total hours worked came up short of the plan.
Q: A shift is marked "Not Closed" — what does that mean?
A: The employee never ended it, so the system closed it automatically. It's a sign to check whether the recorded hours are correct.
Q: Do breaks count as paid time?
A: No. Break, smoke, and unpaid periods are subtracted from the paid hours of the shift.
Q: Can I get the hours for just one person?
A: Yes — use the user picker in the Shifts report to select that employee. Switch back to All users to see everyone.
Q: How do I share the report?
A: Export it to PDF from the Shifts report; the file is named for the selected date.
