Virtual Register

What it does

The Virtual Register is POSolid's cash register — but instead of a fixed POS terminal, it runs in a web browser on any device you already have: a tablet, a phone, or a laptop. Your staff take orders, collect payment, and print fiscal receipts from wherever they are on the floor, with no proprietary POS hardware required. It's the heart of the Point of Sale — the screen your cashiers and waiters use all day.

Getting started

  1. Open Virtual Register (also shown as "Wirtualna kasa") from the menu — it opens the new-order screen.
  2. Tap items from the menu to build the order, then take payment with Pay. The full order-taking flow — receipt tabs, item notes, tax, split payments — is described in the Orders article.
  3. For the fastest daily start, install POSolid as an app on the device (see Install the App) and sign in with a PIN (see Quick Access with a PIN).
  4. To print compliant fiscal receipts, connect a fiscal printer through the Print Agent (see Printing).

Key things to know

  • It runs on any device, anywhere. Any modern browser on a tablet, phone, or laptop becomes a register — the register travels with your staff across the floor. No dedicated POS terminal is needed, just a printer and (optionally) a card terminal.
  • Several people can use it at once. Each staff member can run the register on their own device at the same time; everything stays in sync.
  • Fiscal receipts are built in, where your country requires them (Poland today). With fiscal integration and a fiscal printer, the register handles the whole fiscal receipt lifecycle — opening, registering payment, printing, and refunds (storno) — connecting to the printer over your local network. This is part of the Professional plan.
  • You can juggle several orders at once. Open multiple receipts as tabs, split a receipt, and choose an order type (dine-in, takeaway, delivery) — see the Orders article.
  • Nothing is lost if the screen locks. An order in progress is saved and restored exactly as you left it after you unlock — see Signing In & Sessions.
  • A manager tailors how the register behaves — order fields, check and payment rules, printers, and pre-check text — in the Configuration article.

FAQ

Q: What is the "virtual register"?
A: It's POSolid's point-of-sale register running as software in a web browser, instead of on a dedicated POS terminal. Staff use it to take orders and payments on any tablet, phone, or laptop.

Q: Do I need special POS hardware?
A: No. Any device with a modern browser works. You only add a fiscal printer (for compliant receipts) and, if you take cards, a card terminal — no proprietary till.

Q: Can several staff use the register at the same time?
A: Yes. Each person can open the register on their own device; orders and payments stay in sync across them.

Q: Does it print fiscal receipts?
A: Yes, where required — fiscal support is built country by country, and Poland is live today (see Fiscal Printers in Other Countries). With the fiscal integration and a connected fiscal printer, the register opens, registers, prints, and can storno receipts — the full compliant lifecycle. It's a Professional-plan feature.

Q: Where do I actually take an order?
A: Open the Virtual Register and start adding items. The step-by-step order, payment, and receipt flow is covered in the Orders article.
